FFL and Ammunition transfers.
We do Private Party Transfers for a single firearm from 10 AM - 4 PM, Wednesday - Friday. We will not start a PPT transaction if it cannot be completed by 4 PM, so you should arrive as early as possible to complete the transaction. Any transfer of more than 1 firearm, including transfers to & from multiple people and a single seller or buyer, requires individual appointments. To schedule an appointment for a PPT, we must receive an email (Sales@Shopcapitaloutdoors.com) with copies or pictures of all necessary documents. Once these are received, we will contact you to schedule an appointment. Both parties must arrive at the scheduled time. Please note that due to the high demand for appointments and limited space, transfer appointments are recommended to be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance.
Both parties must have a valid CA driver's license or identification card. If the top right-hand corner states that Federal Limits Apply, you must also bring a US Passport or Certified Birth Certificate. You can bring a Permanent Resident Card or your naturalization paperwork if you were not born in the US.
The buyer must have a Firearm Safety Card or exemption and a valid proof of residency if required (Ex. Valid Vehicle Registration).
A CA legal magazine and a CA CA-approved lock is required to process your PPT. If you do not have these items, we can sell them in-store.
For walk-in transfers, you will need to hand over the firearm to an employee upon entering the store. They will then clear the firearm and place it behind the counter until it's your turn to be assisted.
PPTs must be paid for in full with Cash ONLY. The charge for conducting a PPT of a single firearm is $97.19 ($37.19 DROS+$10 labor fee+50.00 storage fee)
At our facility, we conduct Private Party Transfers one at a time, ensuring that all necessary documents are present and correct. We only initiate the process when there are no other non-transfer customers needing assistance. This meticulous approach underscores our commitment to compliance with legal requirements, providing you with a secure and reliable service.
FFL AND AMMUNITION TRANSFERS
Please review all the documents we need from you and the FFL shipping the firearm before sending the firearm or ammunition to us. Missing documents cost time and money to correct, and separate fees are associated with missing or incorrect information, so please be mindful of what is required.
For us to receive a transfer( Firearm or ammunition), you must come to the store or email (Sales@shopcapitaloutdoors.com) to provide the information for the transaction before sending the firearm to us. This allows us to confirm the firearm is compliance and collect your information to expedite the process.
Any FFL transfers failing to notify us in advance will be subject to a $50.00 fee. This will delay the transaction.
We require an invoice showing that sales tax and FET have been paid. If no invoice is provided or sales tax and FET have not been paid, we must collect the appropriate amount and a $50 penalty fee. This will delay the transaction.
We must receive a copy of the FFL and a copy of the CFLC Letter with an AI number with the shipment. Failure to provide either will result in a $50.00 penalty fee. This will delay the transaction.
We will notify you when the firearm is received, logged, and ready to be processed. Please do not repeatedly call asking if your firearm is ready, as this will delay the transaction.
The fee to receive an FFL transfer for a single firearm is $100.00, along with any penalty or credit card fees, and is subject to sales tax and the 11% FET. Any other firearms or accessories may be subject to additional fees.
The fee to receive ammunition is $25 per thousand rounds.
The DROS / background check fee is $37.19.
There is a 5% credit card fee. Cash has no additional fee.
We will store the firearm or ammunition for 14 days from the day we notify you of its arrival at no charge. For each day past the 14 days, a $5 per day storage fee will be assessed.
If a transaction is not completed within 6 months or the associated fees are not paid, the firearm will be considered abandoned. In such a case, we will sell the firearm to recover our costs.
Suppose you decide you do not want to complete the transaction through us after we have received the firearm. You are responsible for the transfer's receiving, logging, storage, and shipping fees. The cost of returning firearms is determined on a case basis, with many factors, such as paperwork and shipping, affecting the price.
Suppose the firearm or any accessories accompanying the firearm are not legal or cannot be transferred to you. In that case, you are responsible for any fees associated with returning the items to the original FFL. Failure to pay these fees will result in us retaining these items to cover any associated transaction costs.

We are not responsible for items damaged during shipping or misrepresented by the original seller.
